What is Gut Love Tea?

After creating Immuni-Tea Love and Love Your Liver Tea and really enjoying playing around with medicinal herbs, I decided there was one last tea to add to the CEWK suite of teas. Instead of that pink stuff for “nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea”, I set out to formulate a medicinal tea blend to give your gut some love.

Just like Immuni-Tea Love and Love Your Liver Tea, Gut Love is made with USDA certified organic herbs and is Fair for Life Certified.

Each tea bag weighs 125 grams and is about 62 servings

Why did I choose these herbs?

Just like with Immuni-Tea Love and Love Your Liver Tea blend, the herbs were chosen for two primary reasons, 1) for their medicinal purposes and 2) for the taste. I set out to create a tea that tastes great and is supportive for the digestive system. As the there are many organs in the digestive system, the herbs here support the various digestive organs and functions.

  • Peppermint Leaf: primarily a digestive aid that can relieve nausea and gas, as well as cramping, spasms, and indigestion
  • Holy Basil: antiviral that also supports gut microbiome health
  • Licorice Root: anti-viral and anti-toxin, reduces inflammation in the digestive tract, and can help lower liver enzyme levels. Licorice root can also help strengthen the mucous membranes to address leaky gut.
  • Lemon Balm: calms the digestive system, is antispasmodic, and antiviral
  • Lemon Peel: antimicrobial, reduces nausea, the d-limonene in lemon peel can reduce excess stomach acid
  • Marshmallow Root: reduces inflammation and irritation in the digestive tract

A note about Lemon Balm: it is considered a thyroid inhibitor. If you are suffering from low thyroid function, you should use lemon balm under the guidance of a qualified health-care practitioner.

A note about Licorice Root: a key constituent of licorice root can impact sodium and potassium levels. If you have history of high blood pressure, water retention, heart palpitations or other signs of heart/kidney stress, you should use licorice root under the guidance of a qualified health-care provider. Also avoid during pregnancy.
